How to stay healthy in our damp Victoria winters.

Does the dampness here in Victoria get to you? Consider this warming and flu fighting recipe for you health. It comes from the traditional eastern health care system known as Ayurved (translated as 'the science of life'). A model of health care we Westerners could benefit from. Our current paradigm in health care is a shaky one ..... there are solutions to this issue and they are right at our fingertips! Enjoy!

Heat 2 cups of organic milk with 1/2 teaspoon tumeric powder, a pinch of freshly grated ginger root and cracked black pepper, plus 1 cinnamon stick. Cook until the milk comes to a full boil.Let cool off and enjoy warm.

Variations: feel free to substitute almond milk or rice milk for dairy. For an extra boost, add 2 pods of cardamom. Add honey to sweeten if you need (but don't cook the honey.)

Just so you know: ginger is known as the universal medicine in Ayurveda. It is a potent bioavailable source of anti-inflammatory and anti-viral agents. Why not pick up a root today? Turmeric another tough agent in anti-inflammatory properties gives this an extra boost. Both are roots and therefore organic may be your best choice- no need to ingest toxins as you try to heal!

Next week ..... Cameron steps in with further digestive health tips!
